The South Korean horror film is the story of a fund manager and his daughter who are on a train to Busan. Their journey takes a horrific turn when they find themselves trapped amidst a zombie outbreak. Now, the father wants to make sure his daughter reaches the destination alive. 

The film, released in 2016, is known for breaking the audience record of more than 10 million theatergoers. Featuring actors like Gong Yoo and Don Lee, the movie is available to watch on Netflix. 

2. Bird Box

(IMDb Ratings – 6.6)

If you see it, you die! No, that’s not about the movie, but about an entity in this post-apocalyptic horror thriller film. The plotline revolves around a woman and her children on a journey to find a new beginning. During their quest to reach a sanctuary with humans, they must make sure their eyes are closed all the time to avoid the evil chasing them. 

The movie, featuring Sandra Bullock, is based on a novel of the same name. Although Bird Box holds average ratings from critics, it was watched by over 25 million viewers in its first seven days of release in the US. If you haven’t it yet, Netflix has it for you.


3. 93 Days 

(IMDb Ratings – 6)

Based on the Ebola virus in Nigeria, the drama thriller film tells the tale of those heroes who risked their lives to contain the spread of the deadly Ebola virus from becoming a pandemic. Released in 2016, 93 days was shot in various Nigerian regions. 

The film, featuring actors like Bimbo Akintola and Bimbo Manuel, can be watched on Netflix.


4. Cargo

(IMDb Ratings – 6.3)

Trapped in a remote Australian region in the aftermath of a deadly pandemic, an infected father races against the time to find a safe home for his infant child. 

Cargo is a post-apocalyptic horror film by Netflix. It was released in 2017 and featured renowned actor Martin Freeman. Although the movie didn’t receive much praise from critics, many viewers found it entertaining. 

5. Resident Evil: The Final Chapter

It is the final chapter in the popular Resident Evil film series. The science fiction action film shows Alice returning to Raccoon City, where the Umbrella Corporation is preparing to finish the remaining survivors.

Resident Evil: The Final Chapter was released in 2016 and earned over $312 million worldwide. Now, the final installment of the popular film series is available on Netflix. If you had missed it earlier, then it is the best time to watch the film.

The 2020 American documentary series has one season with six episodes with fascinating information. The series grabbed the attention of millions of viewers worldwide because it was released during the time of the coronavirus outbreak.

2. The Walking Dead

(IMDb Ratings – 8.2)

It is one of the most popular post-apocalyptic horror television series around the world. The show features a group of survivors led by officer Rick Grimes searching for a place where they can stay safe from zombies. But, the dead ones are the only threat to the survivors. 

The Walking Dead is running successfully for the last decade. The series has 10 seasons with 146 episodes. However, you can watch only 9 seasons on Netflix right now.

3. Z Nation

Many years after a deadly zombie virus, one individual – who goes by just Murphy – has decided to create a vaccine and restore humanity. However, the job isn’t as easy as it seems.

4. The Rain

A virus carried by rain! Years after a rain-carried virus that removed almost everyone in Scandinavia, two siblings come out of a bunker, where they have been staying, to join a group of young survivors. Now, they are heading out on a deadly quest to search for signs of life.

The doomsday Danish series, released in 2018, has two seasons with 14 episodes. You can watch them on Netflix. 

5. The 100

(IMDb Ratings – 7.7)

Around a century after a nuclear conflict that decimated civilization, lone survivors send a group of 100 juvenile delinquents back to the Earth to find out whether the planet is habitable. 

The post-apocalyptic science fiction series is based on the novel of the same name. The show has been renewed for the seventh season. Currently, six seasons can be watched on Netflix.
